Have you ever accidentally ignored an incoming call? Have you ever accidentally answered a call and left the caller 'talking to your pocket'? Have you ever accidentally dismissed reminders or alarms or never heard of them? Has your phone ever freezed because of too much touch input? Has your ear ever started a program while in a call? Has your phone ever drained out batteries too fast because of being ON inside your pocket? If you said 'yes' for any of the questions above, then this is great news for you!
What is? PocketShield is an intelligent device locking application. It prevents accidental touch on the phone screen and hardware keys specially when it is turned on not precisely by you. For example: when receiving calls, email notifications, SMS, alarms, battery alerts, reminders, etc. As you may have experienced, PocketPCs “wake up” whenever any of these events occur, they will also wake up when batteries are low, and randomly when phone signal changes antenna depending on your location. But the problem is: What if the phone is inside your pocket in that moment? Touch screens will take any touch over it as a user input, and arbitrary “touching” could cause many undesired results! (refer to questions on top).
Automatic unlocking? How does that work?
PocketShield supported phones have an integrated light sensor, PocketShield uses this sensor to determine if the phone is inside something, could be its case, pouch or even inside your pocket. So if the phone wakes up for any reason it will remain locked because there is no light reaching it. As soon as you take it out it will unlock automatically, saving you the effort and time of having to tap or slide over the screen as it is required by most of the locking applications. So if it is receiving light it is probably because you have it in your hand, or you have it over your desk, or someplace where there would be no reason to have it locked. [more...]
Interesting… But what if it’s dark or at night?
Good question! If that’s the case, you still have 5+ extra unlock alternatives. Light unlocking is not the only way to unlock. There are other smart ways to unlock it as well, for example movement gestures, finger slide over the screen, D-Pad button press, Stylus out, QWERTY out or Application Permissions.[more...]
Yet more than screen locking?
Yes. PocketShield offers additional functionality that will make your phone day to day usage more comfortable and more productive. Of course those are optional things you can disable/uninstall very easily depending on your preferences. Just take a look at the features overview below or download the trial version to get a real feeling of it.
